• About PMSMCA

  • PMC and SMACCA have been supporting plumbing, mechanical, sheet metal and air conditioning contractors, and our local industry, for generations.  Our members count on us to act as their advocate, furnish educational opportunities, provide safety support, and represent them when dealing with the public, government, other construction industry associations, manufacturers, and labor.

Plumbing Mechanical Sheet Metal Contractors' Alliance (PMSMCA)

PMSMCA was created to streamline the administrative duties of PMC and SMACCA. Although the two associations have shared office space since 1999, it was only in 2006 that PMSMCA was unveiled.  Contractor members must still maintain individual membership in either or both organizations (PMC and SMACCA).  PMSMCA is governed by a combination of Board Members from both PMC and SMACCA, to create the Executive Committee.   The alliance is part of a network of chapters of two national trade associations—the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA)—which represent the leading voices in the mechanical contracting and sheet metal industries.

  • What is Mechanical Contracting? What is Mechanical Contracting?

Imagine living or working in a building without heating, air conditioning or running water. Mechanical contractors perform work, which can represent between 15% to over 50% of the total construction budget, making us one of the major subcontractors on a construction project. We are responsible for installing (and often designing and/or maintaining) heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, controls and fire protection systems -- ultimately ensuring the comfort, safety and well-being of the building occupants.
